In what many are calling a modern-day miracle, a mother from Kentucky believes her unborn child was touched by the divine—and she has an ultrasound image that she says proves it.

Back in April 2022, Amanda Foster, then 33 years old, posted an ultrasound image to her Facebook page with joyous news: her unborn son, Jay, appeared to be developing perfectly. “Healthy kidneys, no cysts, and perfect blood flow to and from,” she wrote. That wasn’t all—Foster also shared that her baby was completely free of Potter syndrome, a rare and often fatal condition that seriously affects kidney development and function. According to the Cleveland Clinic, Potter syndrome is a life-threatening disorder that impacts the formation of a baby’s kidneys and other internal organs. Babies born with this condition typically have a very short life expectancy.

This moment was especially meaningful for Foster because of a painful chapter in her past. When she was only 17, she lost her first son, Xavier, at just 20 weeks into the pregnancy. The experience left deep emotional scars that changed her relationship with her faith.

“My thought at that time was, ‘Well, if God is going to take my son, He will take me too!’” she wrote in a heartfelt Facebook post reflecting on her grief. “It didn’t work out that way, and I developed a deep resentment and anger toward God. If that wasn’t enough, I was later told it was very unlikely I would ever have a healthy baby boy since Potter syndrome is more common in males.”

Despite the heartbreaking loss, Amanda and her husband Kyle eventually welcomed two healthy daughters. Then, in August 2022, they celebrated the arrival of their first healthy son, Jay. His birth felt like a redemptive moment for Amanda—a sign that perhaps there was still space for hope and joy after years of sorrow.

Fast forward to today, Amanda is once again expecting a baby boy, and they’ve decided to name him Kyler. But early on in this pregnancy, doctors discovered something deeply concerning: a severe heart defect known as an aortic septum abnormality. This condition, affecting the structure of the heart, posed a serious threat to Kyler’s life.

Understandably, Amanda was filled with fear. Each ultrasound appointment became a spiritual ritual. She writes that as her high-risk pregnancy progressed, particularly leading up to a scan at the end of May, she would kneel down right in the doctor’s office and pray. “In my prayers for him, I’ve asked the Lord repeatedly to please keep His hand on my baby and, whatever His plan may be, to help me trust fully in it at ease,” she shared on Facebook.

At that critical appointment, Amanda brought her youngest daughter, Bailey, along for comfort. But the visit quickly took an unexpected turn. As the ultrasound image appeared on the screen, Bailey spotted something unusual. Pointing to the image, the young girl asked, “Whose hand is that?”

Amanda was taken aback. What they saw next left them speechless. In one of the ultrasound images, there appeared to be a large hand gently cradling Kyler’s head—an image that Amanda now believes is a sign of divine protection. “In one of his pictures it has the appearance of a hand holding his head,” she wrote in her now viral Facebook post. “My youngest daughter Bailey was the first to notice it, and asked me whose hand that was.”

Overcome with emotion, Amanda began to cry. “The sight of that hand brought me to tears,” she said. “All \[God] has and continues to do for me. And I couldn’t ever fathom a thought of living without \[God] in my life!”

The post touched thousands who saw it as a powerful symbol of hope and faith. To Amanda, the image wasn’t just a coincidence—it was confirmation that her prayers had been heard and that her son was being watched over.

As her pregnancy neared full term, Amanda continued to share updates with her growing online community. On June 20, she posted again, announcing that at 36 weeks, Kyler was thriving. “Our chunky boy is going to be the biggest baby I’ve officially ever had,” she wrote with excitement. “Today they monitored his practice breathing. All together, his measurements are a week and a half ahead. His heart rate was 132 today. His sweet little face—I cannot wait to have him in my arms!”

These words are not just updates from a mother-to-be—they are part of a larger story of resilience, healing, and faith. For Amanda, the journey through grief, loss, and fear has ultimately led to renewed belief and a deeper sense of purpose.
