We all make mistakes, and sometimes we wish we could go back and change the decisions we’ve made. Whether it’s regretting things we’ve said or choices we’ve made, everyone has moments they’d like to undo. For most people, these regrets are minor, but for Australian body modification enthusiast Ethan “ModBoy” Bramble, they’re a little more significant. Ethan, known for his extreme body modifications and over 200 tattoos, has become somewhat of a symbol of going too far in the pursuit of self-expression.
Tattoos have become a mainstream form of self-expression, with intricate and unique designs being particularly popular today. Many people get tattoos to reflect their personality or commemorate important life events. However, there’s often a limit to how many tattoos one is willing to get or how much they’re willing to spend on them. For Ethan, though, those limits didn’t seem to exist. His extreme body modifications have earned him widespread attention, but they have also led to a few regrets.
Ethan’s journey into body modification began at an incredibly young age. Reports suggest that he was just 11 years old when he decided to make his first major alteration by stretching his ears. This decision set the stage for what would become an ongoing passion for extreme body modification. Since then, he has undergone numerous procedures, including splitting his tongue and removing his belly button. Of course, the most noticeable aspect of his transformation is his extensive collection of tattoos, which cover almost his entire body. He estimates that he has spent around $60,000 AUD (approximately $39,000 USD) on his tattoos alone, a considerable investment in achieving his unique look.

However, as time has passed, Ethan has come to regret some of the decisions he made in his pursuit of body art. In an interview with LadBibleTV’s *No Filter* series, Ethan opened up about the mixed feelings he now has regarding some of his tattoos. “I guess you could say I regret some tattoos,” he admitted, before explaining that his regret was not just about disliking the tattoos themselves. “Not just regret, I think there’s a difference between regret and wanting to be perceived differently,” he said, highlighting the complexity of his feelings.
Ethan’s main concern now is the impact his appearance has on his daily life, particularly when it comes to being a father. He shared his worries about the judgment he faces when performing everyday tasks, like taking his daughter to school. “The face is a big thing that can lead to so many problems for some people,” he explained, noting that he wouldn’t want his daughter to have to deal with the negative reactions he sometimes encounters. “I wish that I had not gone as hectic as I did on my face,” he admitted.
In an effort to reverse some of the more extreme changes he’s made, Ethan has begun undergoing laser surgery to remove certain tattoos, especially those on his face. He has been receiving laser treatments for about a year and explained that the process is slow, often taking multiple sessions to see results. “We do it in sections, but I’ve probably gone over the full thing six or seven times,” he said, describing the lengthy process. For Ethan, the motivation behind removing some of the tattoos is closely tied to his mental health. He has dealt with anxiety, which he believes may be partly caused by the overwhelming presence of tattoos on his face.
While he still appreciates his unique appearance, Ethan is looking forward to a gradual transformation. “I’m happy with the way that I look, but I’m also happy with the mentality that over the next two years, my face tattoos are going to become less and less and less. I’m just clearing the canvas,” he shared, signaling a new chapter in his life.
