According to WLOX, Gracelynn’s body was removed from the scene around 8 p.m. The following day, Monday, Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley addressed one of the many rumors that had begun to spread online. Authorities reported that the minivan Victoria was riding in was attempting to cross four lanes of traffic when it collided with a dump truck. Victoria was a student at West Wortham Elementary School and had been described by family as a fiercely protective big sister who loved her siblings dearly.

The heartbreak didn’t begin there. Back in July 2021, Vicky also lost her 18-year-old son, Larry Hart. According to his obituary, Larry died from a medical condition. His passing had already left a void in the family’s life — one that Gracelynn’s cheerful spirit helped to ease. But now, that brightness is gone too.

The community of Saucier, a place where families know each other by name and children grow up playing in open yards, has been deeply rattled. Tragedies like this pierce the core of what it means to feel safe in your own neighborhood. Yet, through the sorrow, people have come together — lighting candles, sharing stories, offering food, and wrapping the Vick-Hutcherson family in a blanket of love and compassion.
